Common Duo Issues

Duo is the two-factor authentication system used by the University for its certain systems and services. Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your Cardinal account to help prevent anyone but you from logging into your account, even if they know your password.

Duo provides several different authentication methods.  We strongly recommend that you use the Duo Mobile app.

In the sections below, please learn answers to the most common issues encountered using these methods.

Duo Mobile App

  • Duo Mobile app is the recommended authentication method, due to its simplicity and availability.
  • Be sure to allow Duo to send “push notifications” on your device so that you will see the Approve notification - this can be set the first time you use Duo, or later within your mobile device settings.
  • If you get a new device, the Duo app will need to be re-synced with the Duo application. Please email techsupport@cua.edu or open a ticket for assistance.
  • If you forgot to bring your device and need it the Duo app, please email techsupport@cua.edu.
  • Learn about the Duo Mobile App login experience.

Callback

  • This method is recommend only if you do not use a smartphone.
  • More than one phone number can be added to your Duo profile. Please email techsupport@cua.edu or open a ticket for assistance.
  • Learn about the Callback login experience.
