Course Availability

STUDENTS

  • New enrollment: Enrollments made in Cardinal Students will synchronize with Cardinal Learn (Brightspace) within 12 hours.

  • Before semester: If your course is not visible, it likely has not been made "Active" by the Instructor yet. Most courses appear 7 days before the term begins, but please contact your Instructor if you have concerns.

  • After/during semester: If a course disappears, the Instructor may have changed the course status to "Inactive." Please contact the instructor for continued access to materials.

INSTRUCTORS

  • Course is in Cardinal Students with an assigned instructor:

    • Find your courses: Use the Course Selector (the "waffle" icon at the top of the page) or the My Courses widget on the homepage to locate your course.

    • Making a course visible: Unlike Blackboard, Brightspace courses are "Inactive" by default. You must go to Course Admin > Course Offering Information and check the Course is active box for students to see it.

    • Sync time: New course shells are created in Cardinal Learn within 12 hours of being finalized in Cardinal Students.

  • Course is in Cardinal Students with no instructor assigned:

    • Contact your department chair or administrator to assign an instructor within Cardinal Students.

    • The sync to Cardinal Learn will occur within 12 hours of the assignment.

  • Course has not been entered in Cardinal Students:

    • Contact your department to officially create the course and assign an instructor.

    • Courses will synchronize with Cardinal Learn within 12 hours of appearing in the system.
