Summary: Steps below on how to block and report users to Google if you receive a message directly from a suspected scammer.
Description:
Please help Google keep others safe by reporting it as phishing or spam in Gmail:
- Log into Cardinal Mail at https://mail.google.com
- Open the message. (Be careful NOT to reply to it, open its attachments, or click any links it might contain)
- Next to Reply (arrow), click More (three horizontal dots).
- In the More menu, click Report phishing or Report spam
Blocking/Reporting:
Click More (three dots on top of each other) next to the Reply button, located at the top right of the message pane next to the reply button. You will see multiple options to report, block, or delete the message.
Report Spam/Report Phishing:
Report messages you did not request, messages attempting to get you to send money or take some other action you did not initiate, and messages claiming to be from Catholic University but do not contain @cua.edu in their name. This will alert other receivers of the email and update Gmail's spam filters. You can check to see who the email is from by selecting the small arrow pointing downward under the sender’s name in the email.
Block “User Name”: – will block any more email from this user to you.
Delete this message: – deletes the SPAM email.
As a Reminder:
- Do not click on any buttons or links including 'unsubscribe'.
- Clicking unsubscribe only notifies the sender that this email address is legit/active leading to more Phishing/Spam & Junk emails.
- Clicking unsubscribe may remove you from a Google Group through which you may have received the message.
